⏩ The Gloucester Start: Wednesday April 16th
House prices latest | 'Unsafe' play park closed | Things to do
Good morning, welcome to Wednesday’s Start. A reminder tomorrow’s edition will be the last until April 28th as I take a family break. It’s been quiet on the news front for the last 24 hours or so, but there’s plenty in the Things To Do section. Here’s everything I’ve found for today’s edition.
⛅ Today’s weather: It’s a wet start but it should brighten up, although expect some strong winds through the day.
🏡 Average house prices in Gloucester are the cheapest in the county, latest property data shows. Sales in the GL1 postcode averaged just under £210,000 in the latest 12 month analysis, nearly £60,000 less than the second least expensive postcode, Cinderford. - Gloucestershire Live (interactive)
❌ The children’s play park at Robinswood Hill Country Park has had to close as it’s become unsafe. The equipment has been fenced off by the city council and it’s not known when it will open again. - Gloucester News Centre Play
📜 Nods to history will be installed at The Forum in the shape of several large feature stones designed with the help of city archaeologists. It’s one of several details shown in a behind-the-scenes tour of the £107million development. - Punchline Gloucester 👇
🪖 A pop-up hub launched to support military personnel and their families is the ‘start of something much bigger’, says the project’s head. The Gloucestershire Forces Hub Pop-up is in the Eastgate shopping centre until April 25th. - Punchline Gloucester

Rotary in Gloucester Community Awards are organised by the four Rotary Clubs in the city – Rotary Club of Gloucester, Gloucester Quays, Rotary@Kingsholm and Gloucester Severn. The aim of the Community Awards programme is to support organisations within Gloucester with a small grant up to a maximum of £500, which ‘will make a real difference’. (No application will be considered to be too small). The deadline date for applications is 5pm Thursday 1st May 2025. Successful applicants will be notified by Friday May 16th. Download an application form here. - Rotary Club of Gloucester (Thanks to subscriber Clive for this submission)
📌 Walk4Hollie 2025 will take place on Sunday May 11th. The walk is an opportunity to come together to reflect and remember those taken too soon by domestic abuse, stalking and knife crime. Starting and finishing at The Glevum Inn (60 Oxstalls Way, Longlevens, Gloucester GL2 9JN), from 10am we will walk a 10k route in to Gloucester. A 6.5k route is also available.
