🚏 Longlevens has lost a direct connection ‘to the rest of the world’, a bus user claims, after National Express suspended pick-ups from the Cheltenham Road bus stop while work on the new Cycle Spine is done. The company said it’s only a temporary measure. - Gloucestershire Live

💼 Gloucestershire County Council’s new leaders need to ‘manage the public’s expectation’ after saying there’s not enough money to fix potholes. The Liberal Democrats, who campaigned in the election run-up on the state of the roads among other things, say £50million is needed just to keep the highways network as it is. - Gloucestershire Live, via the Local Democracy Reporting Service

🚒 Protests were held outside Shire Hall for the first meeting of the county council’s new cabinet. Firefighters unhappy with proposed changes to their shift hours were joined by phlebotomists from Gloucestershire’s hospitals who have been in an ongoing industrial dispute over pay. - Gloucester News Centre, via LDRS

🏗️ Ten 100-tonne steel beams have been lifted into place to form what will be the largest environmental bridge in the UK on the A417 Missing Link. It will be used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders at Shab Hill. - BBC Gloucestershire

🚗 A former operator of Gloucester Car Boot Sale at Hempsted Meadows says he fears prices will rise when it reopens under new management next month. Bob Newby said the site ‘isn’t scalable’ so greater income can only come from raising fees. - Gloucester News Centre, via LDRS

🛫 Modernisation forms part of the plans of the preferred bidder for Gloucestershire Airport. The bidder, unnamed at the moment, has been identified by the airport’s joint owners Gloucester City and Cheltenham Borough councils as they look to sell it off. - Gloucestershire Live

💔 The funerals have been held for the Gloucester family killed in the Air India disaster last week. Relatives of Akeel Nanabawa, Hannaa Vorajee and Sara Nanabawa, aged four, said their ‘final goodbyes’ on Wednesday. - BBC Gloucestershire

🍖 Two stars from Dragon’s Den have been added to the line-up for Gloucester Quays Food Festival. Lumberjaxe, known for their highly-regarded BBQ seasonings and sauces, will join the bill for the July 19th-20th activities. - Punchline Gloucester

🏉 Gloucester Rugby have ‘spent wisely’ ahead of next season, says director of rugby George Skivington. Their squad, featuring 13 new signings after the same number of players were released, was confirmed yesterday. - BBC Sport

🚨 Police have extended their powers to force people causing antisocial behaviour to leave the city centre. An order to help crack down on a ‘large increase’ in issues is in place this week. - Gloucester Neighbourhood Policing Team

🚨 Cash and electrical items were stolen during a break-in at a Northgate Street shop. iCrack, a phone repair specialist, was raided overnight on June 15th. - Gloucestershire Live
