Shire Hall hoardings call | 'Racism' row | Things to do this weekend
Good morning, welcome to Friday’s Start. Finding these daily bulletins useful or feeling better informed because of them? Then please do hit share if you can or recommend to a friend. Here’s everything I’ve found for today’s round-up - have a great weekend, we’ll be back on Monday.
🏛️ The front entrance to Shire Hall had to be decontaminated after reports of people using it as a toilet. Anti-social behaviour and abuse has also been directed at staff and is part of the reason why wooden hoardings have covered the main entry since October last year, with calls being made to bring them down. - BBC Gloucestershire, via the Local Democracy Reporting Service
⛅ Weekend weather: Showers likely this morning but sunny intervals ahead for the weekend.
⁉️ Calls for an apology have been made after a heated county council meeting saw accusations of racism. A proposed amendment to a motion calling on racism to be tackled in the county saw tempers flare. - Gloucester News Centre, via the Local Democracy Reporting Service
🏗️ Work is about to get started on 107 new homes in Hunts Grove, Hardwicke. Blackthorn Way will be built by Bellway Homes and should see its first residents moving in by August. - Punchline Gloucester
🏥 The number of patients hospitalised with flu more than tripled over this winter. It’s led to fears of a similar or worse scenario next winter hitting Gloucestershire’s hospitals hard. - Gloucester News Centre, via LDRS
🏉 Sean Lynn will take charge of his final game as Gloucester-Hartpury head coach when the team go for an unprecedented third Premiership Women’s Rugby title in a row in Sunday’s final. He’s been ‘phenomenal’, team captain Zoe Aldcroft said. - BBC Sport
↪️ King’s School’s under-18s won a national title at Twickenham yesterday. They claimed the Contintental Tyres Under-18s Schools Vase with a comeback win over KES Birmingham. - Next Gen XV
