⏩ The Gloucester Start: Wednesday May 14th
Inside Hotel Indigo | Bike confiscated | Things to do
Good morning, welcome to Wednesday’s Start. Probably my favourite thing about doing these bulletins now is getting user submissions for the Community Noticeboard about some brilliant local initiatives and events. If you’ve got something you want to shout about - an announcement, new business opening, event or anything else - you can send it in, free, here.
☀️ Today’s weather: Clear, sunny and hot.
🛏️ Images have been released showing what the inside of Hotel Indigo will look like upon its November opening at The Forum. Plush rooms and a much-anticipated rooftop bar are shown in the CGI shots. - Gloucestershire Live
🚨 Police are equipping victims of domestic abuse with a forensic spray that will prove if a perpetrator has approached them. It’s been on trial with seven survivors since January and carries its own unique code to prove if banned physical contact has been attempted. - BBC Gloucestershire 👇
🚑 If you’re near the University of Gloucestershire’s Oxstalls Campus later this morning and see a major incident unfolding, don’t panic. Students from various courses are putting theory into practice in ‘as realistic as possible’ an emergency simulation. - University of Gloucestershire
🚲 Police confiscated a bike being ridden antisocially at King’s Walk Shopping Centre and will insist on its owner bringing their parents with them to pick it up from the station. It followed reports of groups of youths on bikes ‘causing issues’. - Gloucester Neighbourhood Policing Team
🐕 Dog walkers could be set to get a new dedicated field to exercise their pets. Plans have been submitted to turn a section of Quedgeley farmland into a paddock and boost provision in the area. - Punchline Gloucester
🏉 Gloucester Rugby will say goodbye to 19 players when the season concludes. Alongside several from the academy, first teamers Chris Harris, Freddie Clarke, Ruan Ackermann, Albert Tuisue, Zach Mercer and others join the already-confirmed departures of Santi Carreras and Christian Wade. - Gloucester Rugby

📌 ‘Cutting Out’ by Viv Gordon Company. A powerful solo theatre show performed by Viv Gordon, featuring beautiful set design. Bold, raw, and deeply moving – where theatre meets activism in an unforgettable way. May 20th and 21st 7.30pm at Gloucester Guildhall. Tickets are pay what you can. 📌 Brockworth Repair Cafe operates every third Saturday of the month (including this Saturday) at Brockworth Community Centre. Do you have a broken clock? Maybe the zip on your favourite coat is broken or you just need your shears sharpened? Pop down to the repair cafe and give your items a second chance of life. You will be able to sit with the volunteers as they carry out the repairs. By doing this you can pick up valuable, lifelong skills which will mean fewer items being discarded as 'unfixable'. Details here. - Thanks to subscriber John for this submission
