⏩ The Gloucester Start: Wednesday May 7th
PC sacked | Missing Link closures | Cheese Rolling timings
Good morning, welcome to Wednesday’s Start. It’s included further down but it’s well worth me flagging the plans to celebrate VE Day tomorrow - there’s plenty on including a swing dance and the lighting of the Robinswood Hill beacon. Here’s everything I’ve been able to find for today’s bulletin.
⛅ Today’s weather: Overcast but warm, temperatures at 17C for much of the day.
🚨 A police officer has been sacked after failing to properly investigate a report of domestic abuse. PC Stuart Fadden had ‘further traumatised a vulnerable woman’ with his actions, a misconduct hearing found. - Gloucester News Centre

↪️ The Flyup 417 Bike Park, next to the roadworks, has reopened after an ‘incredibly stressful’ year. It’s faced extended closures because of the National Highways work. - BBC Gloucestershire

🗳️ Long-serving and well-known former county councillors ousted in last week’s local elections have said they ‘could see it coming’. 💰 Grant funding worth £50,000 is being made available to community groups to help tackle the climate crisis. Community groups from across the county can apply for money to both help projects that tackle climate change and increase people’s awareness and knowledge of it. - Gloucester News Centre
