🚣🏼 Gloucester Docks will be home to a giant floating artwork arriving on Saturday as the centrepiece of the Moomin 80 programme. You Look as Though You Might be a Relation invites us to reflect on how we welcome newcomers to our city. - Gloucester Guildhall
✉️ Gloucester city centre will continue to be served by a Post Office after a campaign to keep a service in the area. 🩺 Government cash will be used to modernise Matson Lane GP Surgery and make building improvements to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. The investment has been welcomed by MP Alex McIntyre. - Gloucestershire Live, via LDRS
🚫 Two new city engagement officers with a remit to help tackle antisocial behaviour will start work in Gloucester this month. The city council has allocated £200,000 over two years to the scheme. - Gloucestershire Live, via LDRS
⛪ Former Gloucester MP Sally Oppenheim-Barnes will be remembered in a memorial service next month. She died on New Year’s Day having served as the city’s MP from 1970 to 1987, with a service at St Barnabas Church arranged for July 18th. - Gloucester News Centre
🚉 Disruption is likely on the rail network around the west of England as 11 days of work at the Severn Tunnel begins today. Rail passengers travelling between Bristol and South Wales are being advised to change at Gloucester or Cheltenham Spa. - BBC Gloucestershire
🎒 Two merged primary schools - Moat and Robinswood - will be known as Hillside Primary School from September. The Greenshaw Learning Trust shut Moat Primary and has rolled it into nearby Robinswood Primary Academy. Changes to logos and uniforms will be made at no cost to parents. - Gloucestershire Live
🍴 More than 7,000 children in Gloucester are set to benefit from the expanded Free School Meals provision, which starts in September 2026. - Gloucestershire Live (interactive)
🏗️ New drone images show the enormous scale of the Missing Link work up to and beyond the Air Balloon roundabout. Huge bridge beams for three planned crossings have also now been delivered and will be installed over the next few months. - Wilts & Glos Standard
🤸 High energy circus show, Showdown, comes to Gloucester Guildhall later this month. It’s a ‘satirical exploration of society’s obsession with winning’ and is on stage from June 26th-28th. - National World
🏡 The Gloucester winner of an Omaze mansion has decided to sell up and cash in. Lauren Keene, 24, became the youngest winner of the regular house raffle when she won a pad in The Wirral valued at £3million. She’s sold it for £2.5million. - Gloucestershire Live
